Hire Made Simple
Ask for a machine on hire and one of the first questions you will get is: wet or dry? Get the answer right and the job runs smoothly and on budget. Get it wrong and you are either paying for an operator you did not need, or scrambling to find one at the last minute. With over 30 years of combined industry experience matching machines to jobs across WA, here is the plain-English difference and how to choose.
What is dry hire?
Dry hire means you hire the machine on its own, no operator. The gear, whether it is a dozer or a wheel loader, turns up on site and your own qualified crew runs it. It is the go-to when you have ticketed operators ready to go and you just need the iron.
- You supply the operator, fuel and day-to-day running
- Usually the cheaper option per day if you already have the crew
- Full control over how and when the machine is used
What is wet hire?
Wet hire means the machine comes with a qualified, ticketed operator. You get the gear and the skilled hands to run it, as one package. It is the answer when you do not have the right operator, need the job done fast, or the machine, such as a mobile crane or drill rig, takes real experience to run safely.
- Operator, machine, and often fuel and maintenance included
- No need to find, ticket or manage an operator yourself
- Peace of mind that the machine is run safely and productively
Which one is right for your job?
It comes down to three things: do you have a ticketed operator, how complex is the machine, and how tight is the timeline. As a rough guide:
- Dry hire if you have your own qualified crew and want the lowest daily rate
- Wet hire if you are short an operator, the machine needs real skill, or you need it running productively from day one
- Not sure? Tell us the job and we will point you to the option that saves you the most time and money
One call sorts it either way
Whether you need a machine on its own or a machine and an operator, we sort it through one point of contact. You tell us the job; we work out whether wet or dry is the smart call, find the right machine at the right rate, and get it to site ready to work. You deal with us; we deal with the rest.
